    Is it common for someone with OCD/anxiety to have trouble go shopping for clothes and shoes. I know when I went shopping for shoes I got upset I didn’t know if they fit properly or right way to see if they fit and same goes for trying on clothes I get feeling what is way I know if it will fit correctly.

    Charles, are you saying CBT, hypnotherapy etc, don't work for anxiety or they just don't work at all? Do they work for depression?

    • @anxietypanicattacks
      @anxietypanicattacks 9 місяців тому

      Hypnotherapy has no therapeutic value beyond relaxation. It just isn't capable of what they tell you despite the apparent scientific basis... it just isn't what they say. CBT uses the theory (and it is theory that has been disproven many many times) that cognition plays a role in creation of fear response and recovery from fear disorder... it doesn't. That's fact not opinion. Talking about, focusing on and analysing fear, anxiety and associated symptoms will only give rise to 'practising' being anxious... what you practice, you get better at. In a brain and body that wants to forget to be anxious... as I am sure you agree, that's utterly stupid. There's science and there's commercially biased practices. Recovery is recovery and it relies on science not opinion, theory or payment of a person's mortgage. Depression is a clinical condition with a variety of causes... all of which are physiological. Depression requires specific medical intervention but also responds well to certain techniques which give rise to biological responses... these are not taught by psychology or medicine... but they exist. Anxiety and clinical depression are unrelated and cannot exist in comorbidity... unless you have two heads.

    I never considered the generational effect of increased fear levels. But that epigenetic point is an important one. I was teaching primary school but now am working in drug and alcohol rehabilitation. Pursuing psychotherapy now but I'd definitely partner up with The Linden Method for anxiety. It helped me tremendously in my twenties and was a nice bit of stability in my early thirties during The Event. I was jetsetting to Florida in 2019 and then months later terrified to ride a train. Haha. The government really hates us.

    Very refreshing to hear something like this , 20 years with PTSD and Agoraphobia , every couple of years i reach the top of the therapy waiting list, have 10 pointless sessions and sent on my way with another disorder ,wait another 2 years and the cycle continues, im up to about 10 disorders now. in my experience they never tackle the original issue only the current symptoms hence nothing changes , i also agree with a previous video about talking , you see it everywhere talk talk talk , every couple of years i have to relive the past traumas and almost start from scratch, it becomes mind numbing to the point where you disengage , luckily i found Art but because i draw so much they now class this as a disorder . this is how i see it .. if someone can't swim you don't leave them in the ocean and constantly throw them flotation devices , you teach them to swim! thanks for the videos, keep up the great work!

    I can barely find anything on bisexuals dealing with SOOCD. Can this condition cause a bisexual to lose all attraction to ONE gender only?

    • @anxietypanicattacks
      @anxietypanicattacks 2 роки тому

      Nicole, yes, in theory that's what could and would happen.... if you were heterosexual or homosexual, you would have a distinct prefrence predefined by genetics BUT, if you do not have that predefined preference (bisexual), it is entirely normal to 'what if' both as 'risk'. You know you are bisexual but you are risk assessing in both directions "what if I am gay?" "what if I am straight"... when in fact, you are neither. Does that make sense?

    Sir,I want to say that I have watched a lots of porn and I even watched some shemale ,trans,and a little bit of Gay porn as well, I am now think the reason why I have HOCD is because I have “porn addiction “ I used to watch some vanilla porn but things was going a little bit wild now. So I think this is the reason for it . What do you think? Am I right?

    • @anxietypanicattacks
      @anxietypanicattacks 2 роки тому

      You know what Eric... sex is sex. What arouses people is not entirely indicative of their sexual preference. Many straight people watch gay porn. Many gay people watch straight porn. Maybe your HOCD drove you to 'test' your disorder and/or your preferences? I used to do that too. It's common. Perhaps try abstaining for a week or two.

    What triggered my HOCD is when one of my bestfriends said that she find out she's bi and i searched in google if your sexuality can change over time and i found out that it can change and i got so scared and everything started from there. I'm not homophibic and i don't have anything against LGBTQ+ comunity, it's just not me, i know it's not me, i've been straight all my life i liked only boys and i had only male crushes i have a group of girl best friends and i never felt romantic feeling towards them so i have all kind of proof that i'm straight. What about the intrusive thoughts that accompany OCD? I find a lot of the thoughts aren't necessarily "what if?" questions, but rather statements that still produce anxiety. Sometimes I worry that this isn't even OCD that I'm experiencing. Although, there are some compulsions that I do, but am trying to resist doing them.

    • @anxietypanicattacks
      @anxietypanicattacks 3 роки тому

      Ash, remember that when we put language to thoughts or sensations, we can misinterpret their true nature. So 'what ifs' can often appear to be I AM. The thoughts and feelings created within false fear mimic real fear... it's not helpful that they do because it confuses. Ultimately though,. anxiety is disordered fear and as such, is entirely curable. C

    • @anxietypanicattacks
      @anxietypanicattacks 3 роки тому

      Yes Peter and that's not my assumption or interpretation, it's verifiable psychophysiological fact. You can't be in anxious hyper-vigilance and in complete inability to create positive emotional response simultaneously. They are polar opposite emotional and therefore neurological and chemical states.

    • @anxietypanicattacks
      @anxietypanicattacks 3 роки тому

      Ghost, no, anxiety deactivates or subdues many systems and systemic responses including those which control erections, fluid secretions and the connected endocrinology... many people find they experience temporary impotence, infertility, periods stop... but logically these disruptions are also apparent across all bodily systems - they can even cause issues in immunity as well as the common ones such as cardiology, breathing, digestion etc.

    This was posted 3 years ago but I’m still going to say. I’m a 14 year old girl. For about a month it was my brain telling me I was bi when I knew I was straight. Then now it’s every time I see a girl I have to say to my brain I’m straight and I respond with I know and I move on. Some days it’s worse than others. My brain tells me other things but I’m not willing to share because they really make me uncomfortable. I also go through things where I compare foods to things and now I have restricted my self from eating those foods in a certain way just to avoid thinking about it.

After finding out that I've HOCD, I was rather relaxed than worried as I came to know that these were just thoughts and I'm straight only. So what should I do when I get these thoughts again? Should I think that these are useless thoughts and doesn't matter? Or should I pretend that "okay even if I'm lesbian, so what?"
